the paperwork
Compliance & Documentation
The Halo is built in the Netherlands to full European standards. Here's the paperwork to prove it.
EU Declaration of Conformity
Every Halo speaker leaves our workshop with a signed EU Declaration of Conformity. This document confirms the Halo meets all relevant European directives and standards for consumer electronics.
The Halo (First Light) complies with the following EU directives:
- Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU)
- Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2014/30/EU)
- Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU) — for Bluetooth and WiFi
- RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU + 2015/863)
- WEEE Directive (2012/19/EU)
- REACH Regulation (EC 1907/2006)
Signed by Patrick Verbakel, in Vught, the Netherlands.
Technical documentation
The technical file for the Halo — test reports, risk assessment, design specifications, and production controls — is kept internally and available to market surveillance authorities on request, as required by EU regulation.

Safety notices
A few things to know about safe use, in short:
- Indoor use only. The Halo is not designed for wet or outdoor environments.
- Ventilation matters. The Halo breathes through its base — never place it on deep pile rugs or blankets that block airflow.
- Fuse-protected. The Halo has a built-in fuse. No need to unplug during thunderstorms.
- Voltage range: 100–240V, 50/60Hz. Works on any standard EU or international outlet.
- Maximum operating temperature: 40°C ambient.
The full manual is available on the manual page.
Materials and sustainability
The Halo is built primarily from wood, MDF, textile, and standard electronic components. All materials comply with the REACH regulation for chemical safety.
Packaging materials (cardboard, foam inserts, printed cards) are sourced from EU suppliers and comply with EU packaging regulations.
At end of life, the Halo carries the WEEE symbol on the bottom label — please dispose of it responsibly through a certified electronic waste collection point.
Serial numbers and traceability
Every Halo has a unique serial number recorded on the sticker on the underside of the speaker. This number is also recorded in our internal production log, which we keep for the full 10-year retention period required by EU regulation.
If you need to reference your Halo for warranty, service, or documentation purposes, this is the number to have on hand.
Notified bodies and testing
The Halo does not require notified body involvement for CE marking, as it falls under directives that allow self-declaration by the manufacturer following harmonised standards.
Testing has been performed following applicable EN standards for consumer audio equipment, including:
- EN 62368-1 (Safety of audio/video equipment)
- EN 55032 (EMC emission standards)
- EN 55035 (EMC immunity standards)
- EN 300 328 (Bluetooth radio compliance)
- EN 301 893 (5 GHz WiFi compliance)
